Directions to the farm

We are 6 miles south of Wytheville, VA in the beautiful Blue Ridge Highlands of Southwestern Virginia. We are 3.5 miles down a gravel road and although we may seem a bit remote we have hosted folks from all 50 states and hope to add you to that list.

Directions from Wytheville to Beagle Ridge Herb Farm- 276-621-4511

Exit I 81 or I 77 at exit 73 Go through Wytheville. Follow Rte 21 S through Wytheville approx. 10 miles. Turn left onto 690 ( Cripple Creek Rd). Make the second left ( approx 1 3/4 miles) onto Matney Flats Rd . It is a sharp , uphill, left hand turn with a few for sale signs at the entrance( looks like a driveway.). Busses or large vehicles proceed past the road and go about 1/2 a mile down the road to Rosenbaum Chapel parking lot. Here you can turn around and come back to Matney Flats and turn right, up onto the road.

The road is full of potholes for the first mile- there has been ongoing logging for the last few years and I am afraid there are more potholes than road. After the first mile the road turns to gravel and improves greatly ( if only the first mile was this nice) You will pass Henley Mountain Blueberry Farm on the right- be sure to plan to stop when open. Beagle Ridge is 3.5 miles down on the left. When you get to the gate which says Private road- Authorized vehicles only, Keep coming you are about a half way there. Be sure not to turn down a driveway until you see the Beagle Ridge Herb Farm sign at our driveway.

Coming North from NC:  you can either come up 21 North through Sparta or follow the directions from Winston Salem below. From 21 North go through Speedwell and watch for the intersection of 690. You will turn right onto 690 East (Cripple Creek Rd). Approx 2 miles ahead you will turn left onto Matney Flats Rd ( it is the second left from the intersection) then follow the directions above.

From Winston Salem:
Take 52 N to I-74 around Mt Airy, follow signs for I-77 N. Get off at exit 24- Poplar Camp. Turn left off the ramp and follow this 4 miles to Austinville, turn left off of Lead Mines Bridge. Continue on approx 4 more miles through a large crossroads and go another 10 miles. When you pass Rosenbaum Chapel watch for the second right, Matney Flats Rd. It is a steep uphill right hand turn with for sale signs at the entrance. We are 3.5 miles down on the left- the road is very rough due to logging trucks but improves about a mile down the road. Follow the directions above.
