Basil Salt
  •  2 C of Basil
  • 1/4 c of course sea salt

Using cleaned fresh leaves and your food processor you will make a gourmet seasoned salt.

  1. Pulse the basil leaves in your food processor until it is coarsely chopped
  2. Add your salt and pulse until well blended
  3. Preheat your oven to 200 or the lowest setting
  4. Place parchment paper or aluminum foil on a cookie sheet
  5. Spread your basil mixture on a thin layer and place in the oven
  6. Check in 10 minute increments, stir to dry it out.
  7. Depending how wet your mixture is it may take 30 minutes or more to dry out. The color will go from dark to very light as it dries out.
  8. When it feels crispy, return to food processor
  9. Pulse just a bit to blend everything together
  10. Pour into a container with a grinder cap
  11. Enjoy on anything you need salted

You can use any cultivar of basil that you have, not just sweet Basil.

If you only have dried leaves there is no reason to use the oven, just add the Basil to the salt and pulse, place in your salt shaker.
